Lebanon Says Paramedic Killed in Israeli Drone Strike Despite Truce

(MENAFN) A paramedic lost his life on Wednesday after an Israeli drone strike targeted a town in southern Lebanon, according to reports, despite the continuation of a ceasefire arrangement between the two sides.

The attack reportedly struck the al-Ain area of Arab Salim in the Nabatieh district. According to reports, the victim was a paramedic affiliated with the Risala Scout Association.

Later in the day, a second drone strike was reported in the Labbaneh neighborhood of the same town. No immediate information indicated additional casualties or significant damage resulting from the second attack.

The incident occurred one day after Lebanese and Israeli representatives concluded a fourth round of US-sponsored discussions in Washington aimed at maintaining the ceasefire and addressing unresolved security concerns.

According to reports, Israeli military operations in Lebanon have continued on a near-daily basis despite the ceasefire that came into effect on April 17 and was later extended through early July.

Figures released by Lebanon’s Health Ministry indicate that Israeli attacks since March 2 have killed 3,468 people and injured 10,577 others nationwide, according to reports.

Reports also state that Israeli forces continue to maintain a presence in several areas of southern Lebanon, including territories occupied for decades as well as locations captured during the 2023-24 conflict. Israeli troops have additionally advanced several kilometers into Lebanese territory during the current period of hostilities, according to reports.
