Gaza Death Toll Tops 72,990 Amid Ongoing Israeli Strikes

(MENAFN) The death toll in Gaza has climbed to 72,991 since October 2023, after Israeli attacks claimed three more Palestinian lives within a single 24-hour window, Gaza's Health Ministry announced Wednesday.

According to a ministry statement, five additional Palestinians sustained injuries from Israeli fire during the same period.

The fresh casualties come despite a ceasefire agreement that has nominally been in effect since October 2025 — an accord that has done little to halt the violence on the ground. Gaza's Health Ministry reports that truce violations alone have now killed 981 people and left 3,104 others wounded since the deal took hold.

The agreement was brokered in the aftermath of a two-year conflict that the ministry describes as genocidal, one that levelled approximately 90% of Gaza's civilian infrastructure before the truce was reached.

The Israeli military has continued its daily operations across the strip, with no indication of an imminent halt to the strikes.
